Why did you join 10X Academy?

Looking back on my early educational years, I realized the significant impact teachers and staff have on students like myself and made an exceptional contribution to my and my mom’s life for the better. To this day, I still look up to their beliefs and actions, pushing me to continue to pay it forward to the community. It has been my passion to help kids in school/church programs since 2007.

How were you called to serve at 10X?

My whole life, I have always loved helping others. During my years, a call from God led me to volunteer in the church community. When I moved to San Diego in 2019, I needed to find my new purpose in where I was going to make even the slightest difference. I have been allowed to be part of 10X Academy, which wants to lead our future generations in the right direction.

What’s your background in education?

My first time volunteering was at a church as an altar server and a Sunday school teacher’s assistant. In high school, I assisted in a program that helped kids from 1 to 5 and focused on kids with disabilities. However, my favorite experience was when I became a youth leader for high school students. I devoted my time to their transition from middle school to high school and some of them through college.

Something personal.

I became interested in fixing cars in high school, and I realized I enjoyed it more than expected. For a while, I thought that was going to be my career path; however, I have decided to make it more of a hobby than a career since I realized my passion for helping others could expand in many other ways.
